ABOUT BIOP

Founded in 2022 at Ege University Technopark with the support of the TÜBİTAK 1512 BİGG – Green Deal Program, our company began its journey with the mission of redefining sustainability.
In 2023, in line with our goal of revalorizing waste through mycelium technology, we launched our first comprehensive R&D Laboratory at DEPARK (Dokuz Eylül University Technopark), Tınaztepe Campus.
In the same year, through our project titled “Development of Sustainable and Biodegradable Mycelium Panels”, carried out under the KOSGEB R&D and Innovation Support Program, we developed our durable and functional BIOP Mipan mycelium biocomposites based on our own production formulation. Our BIOP Mipan Decorative Wall Panel was awarded first place in the Corporate Idea category at the 30th International Golden Compass Awards organized by Yapı Kataloğu, earning the prestigious Golden Compass Award.
In line with our approach of rethinking the concept of waste, we launched our BIOPTION projects, through which we explore the creative reuse of industrial waste using mycelium technology. Within this scope, in 2024, we implemented our TÜBİTAK-supported project titled “Development of an Eco-Friendly Acoustic Panel by Binding Recycled PET Waste with Mycelium.”
In 2025, through our project “Development of a Mycelium-Based Panel with Decorative and Insulation Properties for Interior Decoration,” supported under the KOSGEB Entrepreneur Support Program – Business Development Support, we took an important step toward our goal of becoming a sector leader in decorative applications.
With a strong focus on academia–industry collaboration, we contribute to the training of future specialists in mycelium technologies through TÜBİTAK 2209-B Industry Collaboration Projects, while also providing support and mentoring for student research projects.

2209-B projects supported in 2025 under our mentorship:

• Development of a customizable compost preparation and bagging machine for mycelium biocomposite and gourmet mushroom production.
• Comparison of the efficiency of culture methods for mycelium-based vegan leather production and bioreactor design.
• Production of mycelium composite materials using wild carob, almond shells, and dried seagrass, and physical and microbiological observation of the produced composite’s indoor/outdoor stability
• Investigation of the biosensor development potential of Ganoderma sp. through electrical activity detection
